Happy April 1st! Happy April Fools' Day!

Many people consider the 1st of April to be "April Fools' Day" or "All Fools' Day" whereby it is an annual custom on April 1st to play practical jokes and hoaxes on friends and loved ones. It is a meant to be a day of playfulness and harmless fun. The custom of setting aside a day or playing harmless pranks upon one's neighbour is common across many parts of the world. If you have a prank played on you, then you are considered the "fool" but if you catch the prankster and don't fall for their hoax, then they are the "fool". However, even if you don't willingly participate and you have a prank played on you, you are still considered to be the "fool" This is quite symbolic of how things in life go on around us despite our will so we might as well partake in the goings on and enjoy life.

An old Japanese proverb recognizes we all are "fools" in this life but their concept of "fool" doesn't imply stupidity or incompetence, but rather a recognition of human imperfection and the inherent absurdity of life, encouraging embracing joy and spontaneity.
